The iPhone Duo is worth it for iPhone owners who want a foldable: 5 critics average 9.1 out of 10, praising the nearly invisible crease, hinge and inner display but faulting the missing Face ID, the lack of a telephoto camera and apps not yet optimized for the big screen. This page is a consensus of published reviews, not hands-on testing.
Is the iPhone Duo worth it?
The scores range from 8 to 10 out of 10, and the verdict is consistent: this is a well-built first foldable with a few clear trade-offs. Typical pricing in reviews is $1,999.
What critics loved
Design and hinge. TechRadar called it a polished, well-engineered foldable with an excellent hinge and a flat matte screen that hides the crease. Engadget described the hinge as smooth and strong, with an IP68 rating. The Indian Express praised the crease-free screen and durable-feeling hinge.
Displays and multitasking. Tom's Guide liked the nano-texture display, the multiple usage modes and the intuitive split-screen multitasking, and said optimized apps look great. T3 said the inner screen looks incredible and the outer screen is great for general use.
Performance and battery. TechRadar and Tom's Guide both called performance strong. Engadget found battery life strong for a foldable, with 28 hours 48 minutes of video playback. The Indian Express said it lasts a day on a full charge.
Where it falls short
No Face ID. Every critic flagged the switch to Touch ID in the power button. Engadget found it slower than expected.
Cameras. TechRadar, Tom's Guide and T3 all noted the lack of a telephoto lens. T3 also called the under-screen camera low resolution, and The Indian Express put the cameras below Pro Max level. Engadget was more positive, saying they keep up with the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Apps. Tom's Guide said non-optimized third-party apps look bad, and Engadget and The Indian Express made the same complaint. TechRadar wants more third-party support.
