Vivo took its X500 flagship series global on October 27, with a European launch event streamed from its Austrian branch, following the China debut in September. The lineup has three models, the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, and the Pro models are described by 9to5Google as the first phones with MediaTek's 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro chip.
Key facts
- Pricing in Europe: the X500 Pro (12GB/256GB) costs EUR 1,399. The X500 Pro Max costs EUR 1,599 (256GB), EUR 1,799 (512GB) and EUR 2,199 (1TB), per FoneArena.
- Base X500: priced at MYR 4,699 (256GB) and MYR 5,299 (512GB) in Malaysia. It has not launched in Europe.
- Chips: Dimensity 9600 Pro in the Pro models, Dimensity 9600M in the X500.
- Charging: 90W wired and 40W wireless on all three phones.
- India: expected by the end of November, with no official date or price, according to India Today.
What the hardware offers
The Pro has a 6.36-inch display and the Pro Max a 6.85-inch one. Both are 2K LTPO AMOLED panels at up to 144Hz. The X500 has a 6.59-inch 144Hz AMOLED screen. 9to5Google lists a peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits for the Pro models, while FoneArena's global figures cite up to 2,000 nits, so the claim depends on how it is measured.
Cameras are the focus. Both Pro models use a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP ultrawide. The Pro Max adds a 200MP periscope telephoto, and the Pro uses a 64MP one. Both support an optional Zeiss telephoto extender at 400mm equivalent, according to 9to5Google. The Pro Max records 8K video at 30fps, and both Pro models handle 4K at 240fps.
Battery figures differ by source. 9to5Google and India Today list 8,000mAh for the Pro Max, while FoneArena gives 7,800mAh, or 6,750mAh in Europe. India Today notes that capacities may vary by market. The Pro is listed at 6,510mAh and the X500 at 7,500mAh. All run OriginOS 7 on Android 17, and FoneArena says it adds Apple-ecosystem file sharing via Quick Share.
Why it matters
The series skips from the X300 to the X500 and adds a Pro Max tier. India Today points out that a 200MP telephoto is not new, since the X300 Pro already had one, so sensor size, stabilization and video features will decide whether it is a real upgrade.
Regional gaps are visible. GSMArena expected the base X500 to stay out of Europe for the foreseeable future, and reader comments on that report note the absence of a UK launch.
What to watch next
India pricing is the main open question. Converted European prices run from about Rs 1.48 lakh for the Pro, per India Today, though local pricing may differ. European pre-orders run until November 30, with a free camera grip for Pro Max buyers and Headphone Studio headphones for Pro buyers.
India Today also reports that an X500 Ultra has reportedly appeared in an IMEI database. Vivo has not confirmed it.
