Design and hardware
The chassis is aluminum, 13.5mm thick and 1.15kg in weight, as India Today reports. It has a 180-degree hinge and a backlit keyboard. FoneArena adds that the keyboard is spill-resistant and the chassis is three-piece and durability-tested.
Ports include two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports with DisplayPort and power delivery, an HDMI port and a universal audio jack. Wireless support is Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 on the higher configuration. FoneArena's spec table also lists a Realtek Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 option. Graphics are integrated Intel Graphics.
Dell claims up to 21 hours of Netflix streaming, a figure also reported by Gadgets 360. The battery is a 61.2Wh 3-cell unit, charged by a 65W USB-C adapter. India Today notes Dell had not given charging speed details at the time of writing.
A small discrepancy in the sources
The sources differ on the webcam. India Today describes a 2-megapixel Full HD unit, while FoneArena's article text says 1080p and its spec table lists a 2MP RGB or RGB+IR camera. These descriptions are broadly consistent with a 2MP, 1080p sensor, though the infrared option is tied to Windows Hello support, which FoneArena lists as optional.
Pricing and availability
According to FoneArena, all four colors are available on Dellstore.com from the launch date. Linen is also available at Dell Exclusive Stores, large-format retail and e-commerce platforms. Washed Denim, Dusty Rose and Velvet Green reach those channels by the end of November.
Other launch offers include zero-down-payment and zero-interest financing through major banks and NBFCs, and one-year Accidental Damage Protection for Rs 499.
Why it matters
Dell is positioning the 14S as a way to get premium-leaning features at a lower price in India. Raj Kumar Rishi, Dell's VP and GM of Consumer Business for Asia Pacific and Japan, said it does not make buyers choose between design, battery life and affordability.
